Thesis resume

The notion of « Accueil » has various meanings in French and no direct translation in English language. The french understandings of « Accueil » go from « caring », to « meeting » and « welcoming », even to « fosterling ». We have organised our study along three main lines, reflecting three distinct meanings of the notion of « Accueil ». The first aspect we have examined is « Accueil » in terms of the specific quality of the psychoanalytic way of listening. We have delimited this notion by asking ourselves the three following questions: What orientates the act of interpretation in the situation of psychoanalytical listening ? What is the function of Desire in that singular way of listening? To what concepts can we appeal to question limits and boundaries in the psychoanalytical listening? We have then worked towards distinguishing what could thought about as objects of that listening. We have firstly identified two categories: the Unconscious, in the way that it represents what is « un-welcomed », and the Real, in the way that it represents what cannot be symbolised and is therefore the paroxysmic example of what is « un-welcomable » by definition. We have then studied the notion of « Accueil » along its transferential aspects, in the sense of the first welcoming moment of an encounter between a « welcoming » subject and a « welcomed » subject. We have started by pointing out how psychoanalytic literature offers a very peculiar point of view towards Consciousness and the Self, in order to define the stakes in our argument. We have then examined the question of the Self and the Other, through two precise questions : How can we conciliate two different conceptualizations of the Self, the Freudian-one in its sense of strong-Self, and the Lacanian-one in its sense of resisting-Self ? Is the Other at the core of the Subject, or, is the Other barely a projection of a Subject who comes first ? We have tried to enrich our point of view by studying the evolution of the notion of Alterity in classic metaphysics, specifically in the light of the concept of « Mimesis » brought by M. E. Lévinas. Finally, the notion of « Accueil » has been considered along the lines of its social components, as a functional moment of a specific kind of encountering that we can call « meeting ». It takes a meaningful function when working with Subjects in a position of social exclusion. We have considered two examples of excluded Subjects: the wandering Subject, and the exiled Subject. In this acceptance, « Accueil » echoes with the idea of a physical place, which is also a place of possibility for addressing Talk from one Subject to another. « Accueil » in the sense of « meeting » can also be considered as specific kind of social speech that, when encountered, has clinical effects on Subjects. Based on the work of M. M. Foucault in Histoire de la folie à l’âge classique, we have put forward the mechanisms by which a certain kind of social sensitivity has effects on the way to care for madness, and therefore the way madness signifies itself. To close the study, we have approached the notion of « Accueil » as a therapeutical operator, serving as a cure in social and psychopathological alienations, in reference to the way the « Psychotherapie Institutionnelle » has put the notion of « Accueil » at the core of its therapeutical techniques.
