Thesis resume

The aim of this thesis is to explore the links that have existed between language and theology in the Ašʿarite school. Ašʿarism is one of the expressions of Sunni theology in the classical age. Founded in Iraq by Abū l-Ḥasan al-Ašʿarı̄(m.324 / 936), this theological school has grown to become one of the most influential among Sunni Muslims, to this day. The Maghreb countries have for several centuries adopted Ašʿarism as an official creed and consider it one of the fundamental religious components of their country (al-ṯawabit al-diniyya). The Qāḍı̄ Abū Bakr Ibn al-ʿArabı̄is an Ašʿarite theologian, Malikite jurist and Andalusian linguist of the 5th century Hegirian. His influence is important: he is credited with having been one of the main actors in the ašʿarization of Andalusia, introducing books that will quickly become references to local education, such as the Iršād of al-G| uwaynı̄ (in kalām), or the Mustaṣfā and the Manḫūl of Gy azālı̄ (uṣūl al-fiqh). For he is certainly the most famous disciple of Gy aẓālı̄ : he was one of the first to discover Abū Ḥāmid and his thoughts in Andalusia and then in the rest of Europe. Ibn al-ʿArabı̄ is a symbol in many ways: of Maghreb origin, born in Europe, traveling to Iraq for the sake of knowledge, it illustrates the cultural encounter of the East and the West. A theologian, a lawyer, a specialist in the ḥadīṯ, but also a linguist, he also embodies the meeting of knowledge. It is therefore an object of choice for the multidisciplinary work I wish to carry out. By familiarizing ourselves with the writing of the Qa, we were able to discover his abundant work, which we tried to scour in order to find the support of choice that would lend itself to our problem. Our choice was based on the Nukat al-Maḥṣūl, which is a treatise that Ibn al-ʿArabı̄ was written with a view to simplifying the studies of the uṣūl al-fiqh (legal foundations). This text illustrates the complex aspects that characterize the language-theology relationship. Indeed, the author, in support of his words, does not hesitate to refer, in addition to reason, to the Qur'an, or the 'adat, to the Arabic language. . The role of the Arabic language is therefore major among the Ašʿarites: a misunderstanding of the language of the Texts can lead to disbelief. We hope that our critical, introduced, annotated, translated, commented and indexed edition of this text will shed light on the issue of this language-theology relationship and will be a contribution to the French-language scientific library in this field of study
