Thesis resume
This doctoral research is situated in an aeronautical-industrial context and the industrial convention of training by research (CIFRE), which is related to it, was contracted with a training organization, affiliated to a helicopter manufacturer, proposing flight and maintenance training.
The aeronautical training sector is marked by economic and regulatory stakes, and by permanent digital transformations in which pedagogical practices must be permanently adapted during many pedagogical tools prescribed by the institutions even before didactic and pedagogical reflection. The question of their use, their usefulness, their status in training, the relationship to digital objects in each learning situation as well as the strong institutional constraints constitute a major issue.
We have chosen in this thesis to rely on a didactic approach to training, both anthropological and professional, in order to guide the research and actions expected in the framework of a CIFRE, in which is recorded the improvement of knowledge and understanding of the current functioning of the training department in the face of digital technology, the professionalization of instructors as well as the contribution of the enrichment of research in didactics in a professional environment on simulators.
The doctoral contract, which was concluded for the realization of a research in education and training sciences, is based on the theoretical frame of reference of the field of didactics, more particularly in an anthropological approach of didactics. One of the major objectives of this approach is to provide a framework for the exploratory and comprehensive research that has been conducted to study the conditions and constraints that can determine the functioning of helicopter pilot training and maintenance during digitally instrumented instructions.
The research questions question the conditions of realization of the trainings in a highly instrumented environment and with high technological content, and the conditions of feasibility of experimentations of instrumented instructions as well as the identification of the necessary accompaniment to the implementation of training devices by the instructors mastering at best the conditions of the didactic ecology in which they must take place.
To answer this question, we have set up different research devices centered on observation and survey (by interview and by questionnaire) and implementing a selection of experiments with the teaching population, in the respect and the limits of the highly regulated context of the aeronautical sector.
The results highlight many specific conditions and strong constraints from the point of view of air safety and high technological content that characterize aeronautical training that must operate in a highly regulated and institutionalized environment. Instructors have little leeway in their pedagogical practice when faced with a highly demanding public of heterogeneous cultures and levels, and during a multitude of pedagogical tools whose significant scalability generates heterogeneous relationships to knowledge and to the digital world, which have an impact on the functioning of didactic systems.
The articulation between research in education and training sciences and the actors of the professional world who are confronted with the evolution of training in aeronautics, takes on its full meaning to accompany the digital transition of vocational training, by drawing attention to the importance of questioning the type and relevance of the use of digital technology and simulation, through a collective and personalized support of the teaching population.
