The Doctoral College (DC), created in 2007, federates the 12 AMU’s Doctoral Schools (DS). Its mission is to organize and coordinate the institution's doctoral policy, contribute to its visibility and to the mutualisation of the activities of its member doctoral schools. It relies for this on the Doctoral Education Directorate (DED), which is its administrative implementation structure.

The DC is composed of its Director, the 12 DS Directors and the Executive Director of the DED.

In compliance with the ministerial order of 25 May 2016 regarding doctoral education and the AMU's doctoral charter, the missions of the CD are to:

  • Guarantee a very high level of requirements for the doctorate;
  • Promote interdisciplinarity between doctoral schools in close collaboration with AMU’s interdisciplinary and intersectoral research poles (https://recherche.univ-amu.fr/fr/la-recherche/organisation-structurelle/...) and IMéRA foundation  (http://imera.univ-amu.fr/);
  • Coordinate dedicated doctoral programmes to strengthen inter-institutional collaboration ;
  • Promote the doctoral degree and strengthen partnership with the socio-economic world and local authorities ;
  • Promote and strengthen the attractiveness of doctoral education at AMU internationally: cotutelles and international codirections of theses ;
  • Represent the University's doctoral policy abroad.
